Seit 2014 ist er Erster Konzertmeister der Berliner Philharmoniker. Eine Auszeichnung, aber auch Herausforderung für den jungen Violinisten Noah Bendix-Bagley:
„It is a great honor to be 1st Concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic. The orchestra plays with incredible energy and likes to take artistic risks in performance. As the concertmaster, I have to make sure all the sections of the ensemble are working together and that we are following the conductor’s interpretation of the work. This means I have to constantly be making adjustments while playing and lead with my playing and my physical movements. “
Aber auch ohne diesen bisher vorläufigen Höhepunkt, ist die Karriere von Noah Bendix-Bagley ein stetiger Weg nach oben. Bereits mit neun Jahren spielte er vor Yehudi Menuhin, eine Reihe von Wettbewerben folgten, die der Künstler mit Bravour meisterte – darunter auch eine Auszeichnung für besondere Kreativität. Kammermusik – er war Mitglied des Athlos und des Miro String Quartett – liebt Noah Bendix-Bagley ebenso wie Klezmer. Doch wer ihn ganz klassisch erleben will, sollte heute Abend den Weg in die Berliner Philharmonie finden. Dort spielt er unter Dirigent Stanley Dodds (Interview hier) Tschaikowsky’s Violin Concert D-Dur:
“The Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto is of course one of the most famous concertos, perhaps the essential romantic concerto. It has incredible energy and beautiful melodies, and is technically very challenging. When it was first written, people thought that is not possible to play on the violin. I feel this is music that is so clearly moving and emotional, and it is a pleasure to perform this week and share this with an audience. “
